Who we are

We are a ommunity coalition made up of people who live and work in the Tri-Valley region of the San Francisco Bay Area. We strive to promote social justice & shine a light on social injustice through community engagement and education.

Tri-Valley for Black Lives formed in 2020 in response to the murders of George Floyd & Breyonna Taylor.

Our goals at the time were to spread awareness of the injustices that surrounded their deaths, show solidarity with the Black community & to build an organization that would work to make sure the Tri-Valley is safe & welcoming for Black people (& all people) to live, work & visit.

We support & collaborate with other local organizations that amplify the voices of marginalized groups like Livermore Pride, Livermore Indivisible, Dublin Inclusion Alliance, Diablo Black Mens Group, ABLE (African American body of lab employees) and others in the Tri-Valley region and greater Bay Area.

We cultivate & foster inclusive spaces for Black Tri-Valley residents to be seen & celebrated such as our annual Juneteenth festival, Black History Month events, anti-hate rallies and other community gatherings.

Why do we need donations?

We’re working toward becoming a nonprofit and the application process cost money. Additionally, we host an annual Juneteenth celebration for the entire Tri-Valley region with performances, vendors, food and more. Donations go toward our efforts to continue bringing this event to the community each year.

Our future goals as a nonprofit include expanding our reach & accessing more funding sources that will allow us to host more community engagement events, create a mutual aid fund to help BIPOC Tri-valley residents in need, hold more donation drives for the youth (such as our past book drive efforts where we purchased books written by BIPOC authors featuring diverse characters and donated them to little free libraries throughout the area).
